Dr Amin Gharaie is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who started his private practice on the Gold Coast in 2019 before moving to Family Nurture in May 2022. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He worked as the Clinical Director for headspace Early Psychosis on the Gold Coast for several years, before moving to full-time private practice in June 2022. He enjoys his private practice as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Dr Amin additionally has his Psychotherapy Certificate in Family and Couples Therapy. He is the first Child & Adolescent psychiatrist who achieved this certificate from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has his private practice room in Family Nurture in the Gold Coast region, trying his best to help children and their families with a range of mental health conditions.
Dr Gharaie has over twenty years of clinical experience in medicine. Besides his fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP), he also has his General Psychiatry fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP). He also has a child and adolescent psychiatry sub-specialty certificate and a psychotherapy certificate in family and couples therapy. Mainly, as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, he works with children and adolescents affected by mental illness and other psychological problems. He uses different treatment modalities. These include individual and family interventions while he uses medications to treat a range of conditions, where appropriate.
Dr Gharaie worked as a General Practitioner on the Gold Coast for several years. This period was after several years of working as a GP and emergency doctor in other states and overseas. Dr Amin has considerable experience diagnosing and managing a broad range of mental health conditions. Dr Gharaie provides care for children with Mood Disorders, Anxiety disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Psychosis, PTSD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr Gharaie has undertaken training in Family Therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy, and he is a registered educator of the Circle of Security Parenting Program. Dr Gharaie actively trained and supervised psychiatric registrars employed with the Gold Coast Mental Health and Specialist Services.
Dr Gharaie speaks both English and Farsi (Persian). He has extensive local knowledge and is familiar with private and public mental health systems. Additionally, he has links with numerous health professionals in the area by working in the Gold Coast region as a GP, psychiatric registrar and currently a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Last but not least, as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, he sees children and young people under 18 years of age in his private practice. Dr Gharaie does not provide telehealth consultations as an initial or ongoing appointment, so please consider this before making an appointment. He only provides face-to-face consultation at the clinic.
